Hi. I’m Rati Gupta. No middle name.
Okay that’s a lie. In Kindergarten I thought middle names were the same as nicknames, so when we went around the room saying our middle names, I said “Butterfly.” I also (allegedly!) threw up hot pink strawberry milk.
So I guess let’s do this again…Hi. I’m Rati Butterfly Gupta.
ANYWAY, let’s move on shall we?
Rati Gupta is a rare breed of professional hip hop dancer turned actress, author, screenwriter, and award-winning storyteller.
So, I committed to a career of bringing people joy by making light of life’s messes, both on stage and on screen.
Rati trained with some of Chicago’s most renowned choreographers at Northwestern University and worked alongside musical artists Lupe Fiasco and Flo Rida.
As an actress, Rati is best known for her roles on the Seth Rogan-produced Hulu comedy FUTURE MAN, Netflix's critically-acclaimed drama series UNBELIEVABLE, and one of the biggest comedies in television history: THE BIG BANG THEORY.
Vulture called Rati’s portrayal of Anu “delightful” and “one of the best story lines of season 12.”
Rati also performs at comedy and storytelling events around the country, retelling tales of her outlandish personal experiences on stage. Her debut one woman show, NOT ANOTHER TEEN SOLO SHOW, sold out shows at the New York, Chicago, and Hollywood Fringe festivals and was named one of the Top 3 Performances of the NYC Fringe Festival by Backstage.
Her personal stories have been published in the L.A. Times and have won The Moth StorySLAM numerous times.
Rati has developed TV & film projects with producers and pitched to studios like Netflix and Showtime.
She was a fellow in the 2023 Moonshot Initiative’s Pilot Accelerator program, and her screenplays have advanced in competitions like the Austin Film Festival, Launch Pad, and Roadmap Writers. The digital comedy series she wrote, produced and starred in, HEART BABY EGGPLANT, won the Audience Award at the Dances With Films festival.
A passionate public policy advocate, Rati also works as the Content Director for 5 Calls Civic Action and proudly served as a SAG-AFTRA strike captain during the historic 2023 labor action.
Rati lives in Los Angeles where she’s a child-free dog lady, amateur home chef, pilates perfectionist, and burgeoning line dancing enthusiast.
